How to Treat Itchy Red Eyes

Treating red eyes is very simple, more often than not the cause is tiredness, allergies or irritation. They can all be treated in the same ways to help stop your eyes from feeling itchy and irritated. Here are some of the best ways to treat red eyes.

Artificial tears They are essentially fake tears, if you are suffering from sore eyes due to the lack of moisture in the eye then you may not have enough tears. Often in the elderly the tear production slows down with age but this is not always the case, sometimes a dry atmosphere may cause the moisture in the eyes to be absorbed making the eye lids rub on the eyes causing friction and redness.

Rest If you don’t get enough rest then this is probably why your eyes are red and sore. Sleeping 7-8 hours a night is recommended for any adult, like your body your eyes need time to rest too and process all the things it has done during the day. Resting after being on the computer or watching TV for 5 minutes out of every hour could help prevent your eyes from getting tired. It is always better to stop it before it starts

Cold Compress Using a cold towel on your eyes during the day will help soothe the eyes dramatically. It makes them feel brighter and less sore, you can use cucumber, teabags or specially designed masks that are cooled before used on the eyes.

Avoid Irritants By avoiding the things that irritate your eyes you are more likely to prevent your eyes from getting red in the first place.
