On the ferry heading to Orcas Island, one of the San Jose Islands. Amy, and David who is in training
as a hit man. Off to spend the day sea kayaking.

Taking pictures of the Orcas off Orcas Island. We were in a kayak flotilla, the kayaks come together and you
grab each other's kayaks and wait for the Orcas. They come along the coast, chasing salmon into the rocks, and
you get a great view. It is a great spot for sighting them, there are a lot of cruise boats out to see them too
but they cannot come within a mile of the coast - kayaking is definitely the way to go.

One of the many "Oh you can just make out their tailfin" shots.

|
Dad and Amy in the kayak, taking it easy.

With kayaks it is easy to come ashore and stop for lunch, as we did. I am not sure why I am crouching.

Climbed Rattlesnake Ridge, looking out over Mount Si. It's a quick climb, taking around an hour,
and entirely wooded until you reach the top of the ridge.
|
|
Mount Si again, great skyline. Every day we were visiting Seattle had clear, sunny days. I did a bit
of cycling out there and it was a real shock to the system when I got back to Scotland and got drenched
first time back on a bike.

Shot of Rattlesnake Lake and some mountain range (Cascades?) from Rattlesnake Ridge.

Dad and David atop Rattlesnake Ridge.

Out on a cycle round (part of) Lake Washington taking a break from broiling myself in the sun. Not only was
the weather great, but there are water fountains dotted about all over the place which makes it a
lot easier to keep hydrated.

|
A strange bridge on the east of Lake Washington, making my way up to the cycle way entrance to the floating
Lake Washington bridge to Mercer Island. Looks like it's two bridges in one.
