Redesigned the page layout and updated all pages. The site, as before, appears almost uniformly across a selection of browsers: tested with Netscape 4.72, Mozilla 0.9.3, IE 5 and Opera 5.11. And there's a search doodah on each page - getting this to appear in its current form in Netscape was a nightmare.

A collection of photos taken all over Edinburgh.

Friday 21 September 4:43 pm

FARK.com is a weblog consisting purely of links to interesting articles on hundreds of news sites, with a brief headline and categorisation (cool/amusing/obvious etc). Its updated regularly and is well worth a try.

Wednesday 19 September 10:27 am

The European Parliament's report on the Echelon interception system.

Tuesday 18 September 0:38 am

Quite a funny bit of Microsoft fun-poking: Windows Really Good Edition.

Wednesday 12 September 7:36 pm

Information and links on the horrific attacks in the US.

I spent a week in New York City four weeks ago and loved the energy and the bustle of the city. The view from the WTC was incredible. Its still hard to comprehend what has happened.

This screensaver is absolutely astounding, and only 20K - you'll need an accelerated graphics card to run it properly though.

Sunday 9 September 6:44 pm

Sunday: surfing, SQL, stir fry.
Here's Quake 3 Rally, a rallying with weapons mod for Quake 3. Still in development, but looks fantastic.

I've been checking out Mozilla over the past few days, partly through curiosity, and partly just to check bebabo looks ok on it, and it is beginning to come along. Memory usage is down from bad old Netscape days, and with the Modern theme it looks quite nice - the classic one is a little off. There is a MDI add-on called MultiZilla which is perfectly satisfactory, all in all its looking quite good. Having said all that, it has locked up once with 99% CPU usage, and add-bookmark has stopped working, but still looks promising.
I remember looking for this sort of thing before, but with Mozilla I wanted to import my Opera bookmarks to Netscape format (Mozilla doesn't support importing from Opera), and I've often wanted to merge bookmarks at home and at work. There was nothing a few months back, but now there is Columbine Bookmark Merge, which does bookmark merging and importing/exporting in all major formats (Mozilla/Netscape/IE/Opera). Interface is a little clunky, but its free, and it works.

Wednesday 5 September 1:04 pm

News of a feasability report into launcing a purely commercial Russian space station.

Sunday 2 September 9:59 am

Hmm, just spotted yesterday that the log entries on bebabo have 24 hour times and am/pm text - fixed now. This is just about the highest level of coding I can handle at the moment.

Saturday 1 September 10:49 am

Wil Wheaton (Stand By Me and Star Trek: Next Generation, alt.wesleycrusher.die.die.die if you've used the net for too long) has a weblog. A quick search on Google failed to turn up any other minor celebrity weblogs - there is a Moby one somewhere, though I found this article on the way - Psychology of weblogs. Which is quite scathing but true enough.
PC is finally stable, after a BIOS update - thank you!
