The Windows XP QoS problem may not be quite as serious as The Register implied, it may only be an issue with Windows XP Professional rather than the Home Edition. That's what I get for taking technical articles on The Register at face value - the article explaining the actual technicalities can be found here, earlier this said the issue only applied to Professional but now that reference has been removed - I don't actually have XP Home or Professional so I can't confirm either way. |

If you're running Windows XP you might want to check this. Out of the box, Windows XP reserves twenty percent of your network bandwidth that is probably wasted if you're running a home machine. It's due to careless default QoS settings. More information at this Register article here. |
