More JNI, this article here has signatures for Java types (for use in GetFieldID etc), plus tables for mappings between native types.

Wow, I put a fair amount of money into this arcade machine about a year ago, and now its coming out on PS2. Still don't know whether I'll get a PS2/XBox, though I'll almost certainly be getting the Gamecube.

This site turns your IP address into music. It sounds *painful* [via CrustyGeek Musings].

Some guy carrying out character assasination on his mates/acquaintances. Funny.

Needed to write some code using Java's Native Interface using Java classes, rather than primitive types, but tutorials on this particular aspect of JNI seem to be a bit thin on the ground. The best I managed to turn up was this Dr. Dobb's tutorial which is reasonably comprehensive.

Done a fair bit of coding at home recently and was getting a bit nervous about losing changes so sniffed out CVS and got it up and running on my box - the FAQ here helped remind me how it all worked again, as its been a while since I've used it.

Well, the declaration at Torbay after midnight confirmed that the Conservatives were not going to make any headway at the polls. By this point though there were the beginnings of a swing across the country toward the Lib Dems. The later Labour hold at Eastwood only enforced the dire straits the Conservatives find themselves in, though they managed to get one Scottish seat back. Who knows, maybe the Tories will self-destruct after tonight's results and next time round Lib Dem can actually become a serious contender. Well, its a nice thought (apologies for the political bias).

For me, this is hopefully going to be one of the huge attractions with the XBox, that it will be easy for 'bedroom' programmers to write for. Witness MAME on XBox.

Article on a survey conducted on Napster users suggesting that it may be encouraging CD sales. Of course, it is merely a survey, and if you ask someone who uses Napster if they've bought albums as a result they'd probably tend to say yes regardless. It also some dubious arguments against Napster being damaging, such as "how many people have hard drives with the hundreds of gigabytes of memory required to store more than a few dozen CDs? About 10-12 CDs worth will completely use up the memory of a 3GB hard drive." This is quite a way off, 3GB would more likely hold something in the region of 50 CDs. Worth a look anyway.
