From CamWorld, an impressive NASA MPEG zooming in from outer space into San Francisco.

Thursday 26 April 21:46 pm

Infiltration diaries and details "urban exploration in areas not designed for public usage." Here it has a tale of the Parisian catacombs, a network of tunnels and galleries running under the city of Paris covering hundreds of kilometres.

Wednesday 25 April 11:04 am

Wow! This is in Flash and takes a while to download, but its definitely worth it - its kinda like a cross between Jet Set Willy and Jackie Chan.
Wow!

Wednesday 25 April 10:57 am

A Sega MegaDrive (Genesis) in the palm of your hand.

Tuesday 24 April 10:42 am

Whoops, vulnerability in Netscape's SmartDownload.

Monday 23 April 22:07 pm

Basingstoke is a dump, and its all thanks to Jane Austen.

Monday 23 April 4:37 am

Which kind of Brit are you? - covers British stereotypes, worth a few chuckles - stole from The Nutlog.

And with that I feel I really should at least try to make a token effort to get some sleep tonight, so bye.

Monday 23 April 3:34 am

Great, lay in bed for an hour to no avail, body refuses to go to sleep. So I got up and wasted my time on this and that.

I was trying to find out how to register P.O. boxes earlier but completely failed, so I tried thinking laterally and tried searching for stuff on establishing false identities (hoping that at some stage this might involve obtaining a PO box). No luck so far though I did come across this truly terrifying web page.

Monday 23 April 1:34 am

Mmm, I could repost stuff from people's web log archives all day. This one comes from wherever you are. Its a flash app, but doesn't take too long to load up - reconstruct the night before.

Monday 23 April 0:46 am

Anatidaephobia: Fear that somehow or somewhere a duck is watching you.

I remember getting told about this phobia years ago by a chap at uni and it popped into my head apropos of nothing. Obvious evidence of a higher power (how else could this phobia have arisen?), in similar vein to the babel fish.
Thanks goodness for E4, I can never sleep the night after the night before.

Sunday 22 April 23:40 pm

I got sent the UK version of this, can't find it on net, so here's the US one - hangover ratings.

Sunday 22 April 22:25 pm

I was in the loo, and came up with the cracking idea of a lazy man's Google. Basically, whenever anyone enters a query, you spew back a random collection of links with an extract from the site for each one, and whichever one gets picked, you strengthen the association between the link and the query. Kind of like amisearchengineornot? Course, it would require a lot of users who enjoyed pain.

Sunday 22 April 21:53 pm

Dynamic Prophet. Apparently.

Sunday 22 April 21:50 pm

Hmm. Hangovers. Not too much fun. There's some advice on them here which, while not being of mixed quality, are a bit of a laugh.
The following might help:

  • White chocolate Frijj - couldn't find a web site but did find this - I like the approach on this PDF, basically good guy/wank.
  • Water, obviously
  • Milk
  • Those twister ice lollies. This came out top when searching on Google, though the bit mentioning Twister is quite good - "The people will enjoy their revenge when the truth is out." I might use that as a sidebar for this site.
  • And last but not least, Irn Bru.
I recovered enough to eat so I spent the late afternoon/evening with the lights dimmed, a big bottle of coke and Asda pizza to pick at while I sat watching Lawrence of Arabia for the first time - it lasts for ages!

Friday 20 April 23:18 pm

Thank goodness for the likes of Mr. Echlin who discovered the Y2K time dilation bug, which was a new one on me. Coincidentally this is the second story on Ottawa Citizen I've linked to today, both chanced upon in complete isolation to each other, both stories inducing a fair bit of scepticism.
Its the first time I've ever read Ottawa Citizen, I can see I'm going to have to make their site one to visit daily.

Friday 20 April 21:35 pm

Impressive but wrong.

Friday 20 April 20:24 pm

Great! Nipped down to the local B&Q to find they have started stocking nuts and bolts in resealable bags, just like pasta.
All this is in aid of me trying out a recommended method of cooling your graphic card. I have a GeForce, which are known to lock up the display while the sound keeps playing - I snapped today and finally decided to try extra cooling, after fiddling with drivers and BIOS settings to no avail. Hopes it works or my graphics card may well end up flying out my flat window.

Friday 20 April 16:52 pm

Flitting through weblogs on the run up to Friday home time, found orbyn.com's collection of bad haiku. Which are quite funny.

Friday 20 April 15:36 pm

Hmm, another dead [chicken|rat|dog]'s [body|head|tail] found in [burger|sausage|chocolate bar] story - though this one is entitled "Dead slug was no treat for horrified snackers" which is quite good, as if on some occasions "Dead slug was a treat for delighted snackers" would be a more fitting title.

Friday 20 April 10:56 am

Whaddya know, elephants never forget.

Friday 20 April 0:19 am

Jumped off from GBLogs to an acerbic, clever blog called dumb things i gotta do today. This had a link to the silly page of Borgisms, of which my favourite was "I am Drunk of Borg. Resistance is floor tile."

Friday 20 April 0:06 am

I'm planning a trip abroad and came across this site containing ten essential phrases in a multitude of European languages. I like that the author felt it was neccessary to make two of these phrases "What kind of meat is this?" and "I'm sorry, officer"

Tuesday 17 April 14:44 pm

British Ministry of Defence plans to combat intelligence officer stupidity with $1,500 exploding briefcases.

Wednesday 11 April 15:30 pm

Sorry, this will be the last of the Black and White links - Brunching Shuttlecocks argue that Black and White has reverse engineered religion

Wednesday 11 April 10:45 am

An amusing but very small snippet on a lost server.

Monday 9 April 17:29 pm

From C'est Need To Know, a pretty interesting read from the International Space Station crew log.

Monday 9 April 15:49 pm

Spent all weekend playing Black and White, so not much to log, other than this cool link I got sent - Film invisibles

Friday 6 April 14:49 pm

From The Vintage Gaming Network, interpretations of what not to do to your Gameboy Advance - images apparently taken from the Gameboy Advance manual.

Thursday 5 April 23:56 pm

I think its fair to say that this reviewer liked Lionhead's new Black and White.

Thursday 5 April 21:46 pm

Uploaded a pile more stuff to bebabo, that's the site almost up to speed though I've still got some information on current projects I'm working on that I want to put up here too.

Wednesday 4 April 11:42 am

Nice...How to dance properly.

Tuesday 3 April 19:18 pm

Whoops, last log didn't come out, should be fixed now.

No doubt being linked to by logs across the net as I type this, I'll join in too - Intel are hosting a distributed program like SETI, its "a drug optimization program developed to find improved drug treatments and possibly a cure for leukemia" - you can get it here. It'll be interesting to see which project wins out ultimately in the hearts and minds of computer users.

Personally, I've been working on a lot more material for bebabo, I hope to get it uploaded soon.

Monday 1 April 16:45 pm

With any luck, this should be the first post on bebabo in donkeys. Have redesigned site, knocked up a suite of tools to manage web site in Perl - these allow generation of pages on site to common format.
